Ringlet and the Boh Tea Estate Cameron Highland Travel Guide

RINGLET, the first settlement you reach in the Cameron Highlands, 47km from Tapah. There are several tea plantations in the area; one of the most worthwhile to visit is the Boh Tea Estate (Tues–Sun 11am–3pm) There’s a free tour on which you’ll see the whole production process – from the picking to the packing of the tea,

North of Brinchang there are buses from Ringlet to Habu daily at approximately hourly intervals from 8am to 5.30pm. From here, it’s another 10km on a hilly and winding road to the estate. The quickest way to get to the tea estate is to take a taxi from Tanah Rata.

Tanah Rata Cameron Highland Travel Guide

TANAH RATA is the Highlands’ most developed settlement, a bustling place  with hotels & buildings, flowers and parks. It comprises little more than one street Jalan Besar, known as “Main Road, which is where you’ll find most of the hotels, banks and other services, as well as some of the best restaurants in the Cameron Highlands, al

The street also serves as the main thoroughfare to the rest of the region, at night becomes the centre of the Cameron Highlands’ social life, with restaurant tables spilling out onto the pavement.

All the local and long-distance buses go only as far as Tanah Rata; to move further on to Brinchang and other destinations you’ll have to change here. The bus station is near the north end of the main road, passing Tanah Rata’s taxi rank along the way, located a little further toward the centre. At the far end of town, past the hospital and the police station, the road bends round to the west to continue on to Brinchang.

There is an official tourist office in Tanah Rata (Mon–Fri 9am–5pm) for the Cameron Highlands. Tanah Rata is an ideal base to explore the Cameron Highlands, with many walks starting nearby, a couple of waterfalls, a mosque and three reasonably high mountain peaks all within hiking distance.

Brinchang Cameron Highland Travel Guide

BRINCHANG, has a lively night market from 4pm on Fridays, Saturdays and daily on school holidays (end Nov to early Jan)In peak periods, you may have to resort to Brinchang as an alternative to Tanah Rata in order to find a room

A more challenging alternative to the local trails is to hike to the summit of Gunung Brinchang (2032m), the highest peak in Malaysia accessible by road. . You can also walk to the Sam Poh Temple, 1km southeast of Brinchang, a gaudy modern place with a monastery that was built in 1965.
